At an elevation of 3024 mt above sea level Dodital is a perfect trek for first timers. Situated north of Uttarkashi the lake has Crystal clear waters and surrounded by dense Oak, Pine, and Deodar forests. With peaks like Banderpunch and Kala Naag in all their glory the trek gives you all pleasures a Himalayan beauty has to offer. The lake has abundance Himalayan Golden trout a rare group of fish.

On this trek, participants camp along frozen, high-altitude lakes, cross passes that are located over 11,000 ft above sea level and photograph peaks that are over 22,000 ft high. Some of the peaks that are visible on this trek are Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nandaghunti. And the best part is that the trail to the summit and the lake is not very crowded – making it the perfect way to get to know and understand the grandness of nature.

The whole journey was very exciting and exhilarating. Climbing mountains, crossing rivers, the forests , the peace and tranquility of the atmosphere,the sound of the wind ,the sunset, and sunrise,the beauty of the mountains,the valleys and ravines, the waterfalls, the woods, the birds and the animals, the lovely local, the camping , the food and such endless activities were breathtaking.

Day 1: Drive from Kathgodam to Loharjung

Participants meet the supplier at Kathgodam and drive to Loharjung. The journey takes about 8-9 hours. The route passes through beautiful hill stations like Bhimtal, Almora and Kausani. Many peaks like Kamet, Nandaghunti, Trishul and Nanda Devi are also visible along the way. The basecamp is located at Loharjung, is a small town.

Day 2: Trek from Loharjung to Bekaltal

The trail initially takes participants through a forest that’s interspersed with a few houses. Later on, trekkers will encounter many streams that they cross with the help of local bridges. After trekking for approximately 5 hours, participants will reach the campsite that is along the banks of the pristine and frozen Bekaltal Lake. The lake is surrounded by thick oak forests.

Day 3: Trek from Bekaltal to Khabekhal

After breakfast, participants walk through thick oak forests for about an hour. Then there’s a steep descent to Khabekhal’s campsite. If it starts snowing or there’s a fresh layer of snow on the ground, it may take longer to reach the camp.

Day 4: Trek from Khabekhal to Daldum via Brahmatal Peak

Today, participants will climb to Brahmatal Pea, which stands at a height of 12,618 ft and then descend to the campsite at Daldum. The trail is a winding one, sandwiched between two valleys on either side. It offers splendid views of the mighty Himalayas especially Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nandaghunti, which are adjacent to each other, separated by Ronti Saddle.

Day 5: Trek from Daldum to Loharjung

The trail today will lead participants through the same forest and they will pass by several mountain villages on the slopes. Heading down will take very little time. Overnight stay is in a tourist lodge at Loharjung.

Day 6: Drive to Kathgodam

Supplier drives participants back to Kathgodam.
